13.50 - Marstons Brewery Handicap Hurdle - 2m7f
THEME TUNE was far from fluent when scoring last-time-out but had more in hand then the winning margin suggested and is likely to have more to offer with a better round of jumping and conditions to suit. SAINT DALINA won convincingly in a C&D handicap under this rider in December and has continued in good form since. He has solid claims, while THE EAGLEHASLANDED is well-handicapped to have a say in the argument.
Tips: THEME TUNE, SAINT DALINA, THE EAGLEHASLANDED
14.25 - 1834 Novices' Handicap Chase - 3m
A tightly-knit handicap in which ST BARTS will be fancied to enhance his fine record under Rules having confirmed the promise of his chasing debut when making all at Newbury 94 days ago. SHANTY ALLEY has continued to improve with each outing and comes out best at the weights given his official RPR of 148 is the highest of these having ran well to finish runner-up 44 days ago.
Tips: ST BARTS, SHANTY ALLEY
15.00 - Burton Union Handicap Hurdle - 2m3f
This looks wide-open but the consistent MINT CONDITION has every chance on today’s terms now tackling a weaker race than when fourth in a Grade 2 28 days ago. He has been a revelation for connections this season and was unlucky to be narrowly denied in another Grade 2 at Warwick back in January. The Harry Fry-trained WINNINGSEVERYTHING is two-from-two in this sphere and rates a huge danger.
Tips: MINT CONDITION, WINNINGSEVERYTHING
15.35 - Marston's 61 Deep Midlands Grand National (Listed Open Handicap Chase) - 4m2f
The Midlands Grand National is a real marathon test and CALETT MAD looks massively overpriced despite failing to complete last-time-out. He’s a high-class staying chaser on his day and is 3Ib lower than when second in a Grade 3 at Warwick on his penultimate outing. He goes well on soft ground and has a chance. GOLAN FORTUNE is a tough sort, who wears his heart on his sleeve. He was a good fourth over hurdles when last seen and posted two some good efforts over fences beforehand including when fourth in the Grade 1 Kauto Star Novices' Chase and then third in a Grade 2 at Warwick. His stamina has to be taken to trust, but he’s capable of winning this if he gets the trip, while THE TWO AMIGOS is a thorough stayer who has placed efforts in the Welsh National and Grand National Trial at Haydock to his name and should make another bold bid from the front.
Tips: CALETT MAD, GOLAN FORTUNE, THE TWO AMIGOS
16.10 - DE14 Novices' Hurdle - 2m3f
INTERCONNECTED shaped with loads of promise in a strong Newbury novice in 2018/19 and lost nothing in defeat when caught close to home last-time-out on his comeback. He proved he retained most of his ability that day and should go one better in this weak affair.
16.45 - Horninglow Mares' Handicap Hurdle - 1m7f
CAPE FAIR ran well in a couple of C&D handicaps towards the end of 2020 and has been found an opportunity to get a win on the board, while YOUVEBROKENMYDREAM wouldn’t be without a chance on her 2019 form and should be involved at the finish.
Selections: CAPE FAIR, YOUVEBROKENMYDREAM
