I have four tips for Tuesday’s racing.
IMPERIAL ALCAZAR (13.15 Uttoxeter, 1pt win @5/2)
A competitive beginners’ chase and a good opportunity for IMPERIAL ALCAZAR to make a winning start over fences. He jumped and travelled strongly on his return to action on a Grade Three at Haydock, where he looked the winner until blowing up before the final flight.
He was formerly a smart sort in bumpers before winning three of his five races over hurdles and all of his best performances have been on soft-heavy ground. His defeat of Protektorat reads well in the context of this assignment and the drop back in trip will be right up his street, so he earns the vote and should be favourite, though, Umbrigado is a formidable opponent.
EARTH MOOR (14.08 Fontwell, 0.5pts each-way @6/1 with Bet365)
The Philip Hobbs-trained EARTH MOOR looked in need of his return at Stratford 40 days ago and his six-length defeat of a 134-rated individual at Wincanton on his penultimate outing is the standout piece of form. His mark of 132 looks exploitable given how impressive he was two starts ago and he’s worth an each-way interest under Richard Johnson back on a softer surface.
MERRY MILAN (14.47 Uttoxeter, 0.5pts each-way @6/1)
MERRY MILAN looks well-handicapped on previous form. He’s been ticking along nicely of late and won’t mind conditions. Furthermore, he’s down to a career-low mark with proven form at a significantly higher level and that could see him come out on top with the return to chasing likely to help his chances.
MONT SEGUR (15.17 Uttoxeter, 2pt win @7/4)
MONT SEGUR (NAP) has so far looked promising for Anthony Honeyball. He won very easily two starts back on soft ground and that form has already worked out comprehensively. In conclusion, he ran well following a long absence to finish fourth when last seen and looks the one to beat now making his hurdles debut with the potential to be better than this grade. .
