Southwell Betting Tips: 04/02/2021 (Colossus Place 6)

I am back to preview Thursday’s card at Southwell having landed the Place 6 at the track earlier in the week.

Leg 1: 13.10 - Bombardier Handicap

Win Win Power established his credentials when comfortably winning last time but this is a different test, though, and preference is for HOTSPUR HARRY.

He’s a strong-travelling type, but has often found little pressure. However, this race could set up perfectly for him and the drop down in grade can only help matters.

GREEK KODIAC made a positive start for this yard when a close-up third here last month and the return to this trip will suit, combined with the in-form Cieren Fallon taking the reins.

Verdict: HOTSPUR HARRY, GREEK KODIAC

Leg 2: 13.45 - Ladbrokes Watch Racing Online For Free Handicap

A competitive affair with DRIFTWOOD looking a decent each-way bet at the odds despite a wide-draw. She’s shaped really well in tougher races than this of late and an opening handicap debut mark of 62 could prove exploitable.

TASHBEEH looks competitive on form and ran with credit to finish third over C&D last week. He will find this race much easier and should be able to get involved at the business end.

The Kevin Ryan-trained ELLAND ROAD BOY was a winner here back in November and will appreciate the drop down in grade.

Verdict: DRIFTWOOD, TASHBEEH, ELLAND ROAD BOY

Leg 3: 14.20 - Betway Maiden Stakes

NA BLINATA BEO proved expensive to follow when trained in Ireland by Jim Bolger, but this is a very weak event and she’s selected to get off the mark for Kevin Ryan in hope that the first-time headgear will prove beneficial. She will be our only representative on this particular leg.

Verdict: NA BLINATA BEO

Leg 4: 14.55 - Betway Casino Handicap

LION’S VIGIL battled on gamely to beat a decent sort over C&D last week and the form has a strong look to it given the pair pulled clear of the third. He has a 5Ib penalty to contend with but has obvious claims of following-up while the iron's hot.

DREW BREEZE looks best of the rest having won here last month. He backed that up with a good third 25 days ago and should remain competitive.

Verdict: LION’S VIGIL, DREW BREEZE

Leg 5: 15.30 - Get Your Ladbrokes Daily Odds Boost Handicap

This looks a good race for the grade and SECRET HANDSHEIKH should take plenty of beating on the back of his easy success here 16 days ago. He’s been hit with a 9Ib rise since, which makes life tougher, but he’s going the right way and can complete the double, while A PINT OF BEAR has to be respected..

Verdict: SECRET HANDSHEIKH, A PINT OF BEAR

Leg 6: 16.00 - Betway Handicap

ONEBABA arrives at the top of his game having finished strongly to score over C&D nine days ago. He carries a 5Ib penalty for that success, but the winner has scored since from a mark of 62 and he can make it win number three for the year.

BRINGING GLORY remains lightly-raced for his age and has shaped encouragingly for connections the last two times. If he takes to the surface, he shouldn’t be discounted.

Verdict: ONEBABA, BRINGING GLORY
