Newcastle Betting Tips: 09/03/2021 (Place 6)

I have previewed tomorrow’s competitive card at Newcastle. I have also created a syndicate (Place 6) over at Colossus which can be accessed at the bottom of tomorrow’s column. We managed five from six today at Wetherby and hoping to go one better tomorrow.

Leg 1: 13.45 - QuinnBet Novices' Hurdle (GBB Race)

BENNY’S OSCAR carries a penalty having made an impressive hurdling debut at Warwick but that form looks useful given the second is held in high regard. Dan Skelton’s charge should have more to offer and looks hard to oppose in the opener.

Leg 2: 14.15 - QuinnBet Live Casino Handicap Chase

WELL SMITTEN has been below-par the last two times but is back on his last winning mark and is no forlorn hope to go well. Sue Smith’s FLAMBOYANT JOYAUX disappointed over hurdles last time out but remains on a good mark in this discipline and should go well under the in-form Ryan Mania.

Leg 3: 14.50 - QuinnBet Casino Novices' Handicap Hurdle

BROADWAY JOE landed a gamble at Musselburgh in January and, with this stiffer track promising to suit, he’s taken to make light work of a 6Ib rise. Of the others, BRICKADINK looks interesting now eased down in grade for handicap debut following a bit of encouragement in three starts over hurdles and could make an impact.

Leg 4: 15.20 - QuinnBet Handicap Chase

COUNT MERIBEL didn’t offer much over hurdles last time out but remains on an extremely nice mark returned to chasing and if able to rediscover the sort of form he produced in 2019/19, the nine-year-old will be tough to beat under optimism conditions. I will give another chance to the former top-class BLAKLION. He has been beaten a long way in a couple of runs for the Skelton’s but this is definitely less competitive and he has the ability to win this event.

Leg 5: 15.50 - Handicap Hurdle

KAROMOKO shaped nicely when keeping on well to finish seventh in a slightly better race than this at Kelso when last seen and looks set to run well here from a basement mark with Brian Hughes booked to ride. MONGOL EMPEROR has only had four outings and ran a good race to finish fourth on handicap bow back in December. He looks a serious each-way player with improvement anticipated.

Leg 6: 16.20 - QuinnBet Best Odds Guaranteed Mares' Handicap Chase

Neil Mulholland’s team are going well and his runner, MOLLY CAREW, will find this easier than when unseating early on in a higher graded affair 11 days ago. She remains interesting back in a handicap and should fill the frame at the very least. DREWMAIN LEGEND was last seen finishing tailed off but shouldn’t be discounted back over fences.
