I have previewed tomorrow’s meeting at Newcastle and feel free to join my Colossus Place 6 ticket, which has been attached at the bottom of the article.
Leg 1: 12.25 - QuinnBet Standard Open NH Flat Race (GBB Race)
GRAND DU NORD shaped encouragingly when fourth in a bumper back in November, staying on strongly once the penny dropped and looks the one to beat with improvement anticipated.
The Brian Ellison-trained HACKBERRY returned a nice winner over C&D last month and his pedigree suggests there’s more to come, so he’s feared most with the remainder of the field hard to recommend.
Verdict: GRAND DU NORD, HACKBERRY
Leg 2: 12.55 - quinnbet.com 'Jumpers' Bumper' NH Flat Race (Div 1)
DERRICK D’ANJOU has run to a fair level over C&D the last two times, placing in both events and there’s a strong possibility of the ten-year-old hitting the frame once more.
HANDY HOLLOW is a prolific hurdles winner and although he posed no threat here at the start of the month, the eight-year-old shouldn’t be discounted with that run under his belt.
Verdict: DERRICK D’ANJOU, HANDY HOLLOW
Leg 3: 13.30 - quinnbet.com 'Jumpers' Bumper' NH Flat Race (Div 2)
Dan Skelton’s KING D’ARGENT was unlucky to fall when travelling well 41 days ago and undoubtedly holds the strongest form lines. He is fancied to bounce back to winning ways on these terms and is the rightful favourite.
Of the rest, RAECIUS FELIX is a fairly useful chaser and could get involved at a big price if benefitting from the switch to this sphere under the in-form Sean Quinlan.
Verdict: KING D’ARGENT, RAECIUS FELIX
Leg 4: 14.00 - QuinnBet Best Odds Guaranteed 'Jumpers' Bumper' NH Flat Race
MOON KING is likely to start a warm favourite but is the class act in the field based on his initial high rating of 93 he achieved on the flat. He comfortably got off the mark by 21-lengths over hurdles when last in action and should take plenty of beating with Brian Hughes maintaining the partnership.
Verdict: MOON KING
Leg 5: 14.35 - QuinnCasino Mares' 'Jumpers' Bumper' NH Flat Race
This looks wide-open, so I’m playing three against the field, in hope that we can overcome this particular leg with few units carried forward to the decider.
Nicky Richards is doubly-represented with AMBEROSE and RUBYTWO who both have leading claims and are going on our ticket, while TRAVEL LIGHTLY bolted up over C&D when last seen and has to be respected with three places on offer.
Verdict: AMBEROSE, RUBYTWO, TRAVEL LIGHTLY
Leg 6: 15.05 - QuinnBet Quarterback 'Jumpers' Bumper' NH Flat Race
ONTHEFRONTFOOT ran to a decent standard when second over C&D last week and any sign of normal improvement should easily see him go one better under the champion jockey.
GETAREASON was seven lengths behind the main selection when fourth on that occasion and, with the likelihood of more to come, he’s the viable alternative at the forecast prices.
Verdict: ONTHEFRONTFOOT, GETAREASON
