Cheltenham All Wednesday Races

These are the Selections extracted from the Horse Race Ratings Powered By Racing Tracker Cheltenham Festival Guide.

Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle – Grade 1, 2m5f

Antepost has been tough with Asterion Forlonge & Thyme Hill running elsewhere

The Big Breakaway Antepost 14/1 EW

The Big Breakaway (144) I thought he would get another run in and that could be costly, as experience is key in this race. He, however, has looked very good on his two low-level wins. The form of those 2 races is mediocre. He is the most unexposed horse and in the “could be anything” mould. I backed him ante-post on the premise he would run again, that hasn’t happened, maybe this is a year too early.

Easywork 21.0 on Exchange Win and 2.8 - 4 Places

Easywork(147) Bolted 3 races on the trot and looked full of promise and the get hammered by Asterion Forlonge, but that was over 2miles, his run previous over 2m4 on testing ground he absolutely bolted up. If it comes up testing he could be the surprise package, his price could drop as well if Asterion Forlonge wins the Supreme.

RSA Novices’ Chase – Grade 1, 3m80y

Antepost not been great Had Black Op & Salsaretta and huge prices NRNB and Faugheen & Reserve Tank who look to both go in the Marsh Novices instead

Copperhead 5.4 Win & 1.96 Place

Copperhead (155) Won easily LTO beating Two For Gold. That race did fall apart a bit, would have a definite chance in here if it turned up very soft can’t rule him out, ticks a lot of boxes.

Easy Game 13.0 Win & 2.5 4 Places

Easygame (154) Arguably has the strongest form lines in this, as mentioned was only just beaten by Faugheen (156) over a shorter trip, was staying on strongly and has beat Allaho (154) so on that form and the extra 3 furlongs here could see further improvement.

Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle - Grade 3, 2m5f

Black Tears 24.0 on Exchange & 4.4 - 4 Places & 3.8 - 5 Places

Black Tears (144) Top Trainer & Jockey combo, Gordon has won 2 Coral Cups in recent years, rightly switched her from the Mares Hurdle, with good form lines (2nd to Elfile, beat Concertista 2 runs back) Could be well handicapped, solid speed figures. 20/1 EW 5/6 places can see her going well.

Champagne Well 21.0 on Exchange & 4 - 4 Places & 3.5 - 5 Places

Champagne Well (141) Looks incredibly well handicapped, beaten comfortably at Doncaster LTO (2nd) by Ramses De Teillee but all that gassed in last 2 furlongs, this trip is ideal, great form at Cheltenham 2.2.1 on last 3 starts. Beaten by Redford, Road & Thyme Hill, cannot believe the mark of 141. Has to have a huge chance if replication that form. Beat Braid Blue (140) who was bang in form on a 5 Timer going into that race.

Champion Chase – Grade 1, 1m7f199y

Defi Du Seuil 4/1 Antepost

Defi Du Seuil (170) Has looked very good this year again, beating Un De Sceaux (170) Twice and Waiting Patiently (166) in the Tingle Creek, so the form stacks up to his Mark. Last Season he was exceptional, after a very poor run prior to that when they had lots of issues with him. He was beaten by Chacun Por Soi end of last season, but there are a few factors in that, Had a long Season with tough Races against Lostintranslation & Barry Geraghty was not on board and Barry knows how to ride this boy. Cheltenham is going to suit him better than Punchestown as it has a stiffer finish and it will be more of a test. For me, he is difficult to oppose.

Cross Country Chase – Grade 3, 3m6f

Easysland 3/1 (4 on Exchange)

Tiger roll undoubtedly is the best Chase horse in the race, but his main aim will be the Grand National, last season he bolted up in the Boyne Hurdle and here, before winning The Grand National for the 2nd time. This year I was left a little bit underwhelmed by his run in the Boyne, yes it was his first run of the season, but the form of that race looks weak to me. Will they want to go all out and win this I’m not so sure and Even Money for me is too short to find out.

Easysland for me is the bet. Won at the December meeting, beaten few of the main rivals comfortably, then won in France again comfortably beaten some decent French opposition.

Tiger Roll is in all my Banker multi bets.

Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle – Grade 3, 2m87y

Palladium Antepost 12/1 EW

Palladium (137) Has a fair mark and a very decent win over Flick Ou Voyou (128) by 10 lengths and is pretty unexposed because of the 3 runs where he lost on seasonal debut by a neck but lost a shoe and they were way clear of a 130 horse. Strong form, lovely profile 137 could be lenient, big chance.

Blacko Antepost 20/1 EW

Blacko (135) has had form franked. I think is the horse who has plenty of improvement to come, has looked very decent on his 2 wins, had Night Edition well behind and I think has a lot to offer. Totally unexposed.

Champion Bumper – Grade 1, 2m87y

Appreciate It - 3.0 on Exchange

Appreciate it is a very strong favourite, his time clocked at the Dublin Racing Festival is decent and visually he looked superb, will be a big chaser in time judging by the size of him.

Israel Champ - 13 On Exchanges taken & 4.0 - 3 Places & 2.94 - 4 Places)

Israel Champ has very strong form and is likely the best at the stage of the UK horses, I wouldn’t put anybody off backing Israel Champ at all.
