Here is my guide for tomorrow’s meeting at Catterick.
Leg 1: 12:45 - racingtv.com Handicap Hurdle
This looks fiercely competitive so it might be worth having more than one selection on our ticket in the opener.
VELASCO has shown promise in both completed starts over hurdles, finishing runner-up twice and, despite carrying top-weight here, he should go well. BIOVERDIA looked potentially top-class when hacking up on debut when trained by Gordon Elliott and placed three times over hurdles. There were positives to glean from her fourth on debut for this yard last-time-out and she should make more of an impact this time around. SHERIFF GARETT isn’t without hope at a big price, while FILE ILLICO can get involved with more to come for his in-form handler.
Tips: VELASCO, BIOVERDIA, SHERIFF GARRETT, FILE ILLICO
Leg 2: 13.15 - Jumping For Joy On Racing TV Novices' Handicap Chase (GBB Race)
It’s difficult to look past JACK VALENTINE who created an excellent impression on chasing debut at Leicester last month. The step up in trip looks a positive move and there should be more to come from this eight-year-old under suitable conditions.
Tips: JACK VALENTINE
Leg 3: 13.45 - Meetings That Matter On Racing TV Mares' Novices' Hurdle (GBB Race)
This should be a battle between Hudson Yard and WILD POLLY with preference for the latter, who should have the beating of the former on a line through Molly Ollys Wishes. She’s proven on heavy ground and the recent wind surgery combined with today’s longer trip should see her back to winning ways with the remainder hard to recommend.
Tips: WILD POLLY
Leg 4: 14.15 - Tunstall Handicap Chase
Another wide-open event in which IBIS DU RHEU should leave his reappearance behind him and figure in the outcome from an attractive mark. DIDERO VALLIS failed to stay an extreme distance when last in action and is also well-handicapped on historical form. The eleven-year-old SHENEEDEDTHERUN has been in great form the past twelve months and shouldn’t be far away, while ASK PADDY has conditions to suit and can play a part in the finish.
Tips: IBIS DU RHEU, DIDERO VALLIS, SHENEEDEDTHERUN, ASK PADDY
Leg 5: 14.45 - catterickbridge.co.uk Handicap Hurdle
OSCARS LEADER has rapidly-improved since the fitting of a visor, which has yielded two wins and three runner-up efforts. He’s lost little caste in defeat the last three times, including when chasing home the smart Mister Coffey on his penultimate outing. He looks solid each-way material, while MASKADA forged clear to score at Newbury last month and should make a bold bid from an 8Ib higher mark.
Tips: OSCARS LEADER, MASKADA
Leg 6: 15.15 - pointtopoint.co.uk Open Hunters' Chase
WISHING AND HOPING is two from three in this sphere and is fancied to continue his good run of form under positive tactics with C&D winning form to his name.
Tips: WISHING AND HOPING
